This would be a really good salad if tomatoes are tasty. Unfortunately tomatoes in this country are far inferior in taste to those in Mediterranean countries.

This type of soup is very spicy and tangy. This particular soup consists of chicken pieces, tomato dices, and lemongrass. Cambodians normally eat such a soup as a main course and has rice on the side.

This dish is normally cooked with squid or shrimp or both. What is really good about seafood cuisine here is the use of fresh green pepper. If you happen to like pepper, you should not miss it while in Cambodia.

This dish normally consists of fish or some kind of meat (chicken, portk, or beef) as well as coconut milk, turmeric, and lemonglass. In the case of meat, we recommend chicken as beef and pork tend to be tough.

This dish is offered with a bunch of basil, which is used more as a vegetable than an herb.

These crabs are rather small but very sweet, and eaten with a lime-pepper sauce. If you happen to be in Sihanoukville or Kep, you can get them quite cheaply. At times, you may find them on a restaurant menu in Siem Reap, but you would have to pay quite a bit for their transportation.

Lok lak is one of the most famous Khmer dishes. It is cooked with chicken, beef, or pork in cubes, which are placed on a bed of slices of tomatoes and onion, as lettuce leaves. This dish always comes with a pepper-lime sauce.

This dish contains chicken pieces, lots of onion and carrot, and coconut milk, which makes the dish very sweet and not spicy at all.

At this market stall, you see cooked crabs and fresh eggs (we don't know why they don't wash them), but there are many kinds of insects which Cambodians love to eat, such as locust, tree ants, spiders, etc.
