Café Indochine***
|
| This two-floor restaurant is very elegant and offers good Khmer and European dishes. In general, the Khmer dishes are about $6.00, slightly overpriced, while European dishes are mostly beef-based cuisine, such as steaks of both domestic and imported beef, priced at $6 to $12 and their size is rather small. You can choose different sauces for your steak, but they are not that distinguished. To a certain extent, the restaurant relies on tour groups, as many buses are often seen in front, and the offering of a cold towel and a nice cloth napkin may justify the slight overprice. However, one real drawback is that a large bottle of Angkor beer is $4.00, perhaps the highest among all the major hotel-independent restaurants in town. For visitors interested in sampling Khmer dishes, this is certainly not the place, as they are not that much better than those found in much less expensive places, such as the Shadow of Angkor and Red Piano restaurants.
